Zone 1: Shoebox Sized Garden - Maintain

Chopping and Dropping

I over planted the two beds. This allowed me to chop the excess and drop into the beds. Which acts as mulch. Cycling nutrients into the soil (produce no waste). Also reducing water evaporation from the soil (catch & store energy)

Organic Fertilizer

I use the liquid and the compost created from the wormary along with Comfrey tea as an organic fertilizer. Both are created onsite. The worms turn my food scraps into a highly nutrient rich soil amendment. The Comfrey cycles nutrients from deep down in the soil, brings them up into it's leaves. Which I harvest to make comfrey tea.

Seed Saving

I let the plants which did well and we enjoyed eating go to seed also. This allows me to store and use seeds for the following season.

Other items

I collect organic matter through the day. Like my tea leaves, banana skins and anything else left from my packed lunch and bring them home to add to the kitchen caddy which ends up as worm food.
